While most golfers spend July and August huddled around the heater waiting for the spring thaw, a select few are out on the fairways, playing through frosty mornings, soggy lies, and biting southerly winds. This month, we are shining a spotlight on one of our most dedicated regulars: the local club stalwart who never let the plunging temperatures ruin their tee time.
Meet Tim
Tim has been an integral part of our team for nearly 18 months, working as our course marshal and bringing an easy smile to the fairways every single day.
He might be a senior citizen, but make no mistake, Tim hits an incredibly strong ball. Out here in the elements, he plays off a very respectable 19 handicap. However, catch him indoors, and it is a completely different story. Tim proudly claims to be a single-figure player on the indoor simulator, famously declaring that Pebble Beach Golf Links is his absolute "bunny," where he consistently shoots in the 80s!
The Shortest Retirement in Brighton Golf History
Like all golfers, Tim isn't immune to the frustrations of the game. Just the other day, after a particularly humbling round at a nearby Sandbelt course, Tim was heard declaring:
"I am not playing golf for 5 weeks!"
It was a dramatic retirement from the game. Fortunately for us, it was also short-lived.
No word of a lie, later that exact same day, his brand-new Titleist hybrid arrived in the mail. By 7:00 am the very next morning, the "five-week break" was officially over, and Tim was right back on the first tee, ready to break in the new club.
The Dream Team Marshal
We have been treated to a relatively mild winter this year, but honestly, it wouldn't matter to Tim. Rain, hail, or shine, if he isn't out there marshaling the course and keeping everything running smoothly, he is out there playing.
He genuinely loves the game and the community around it. We absolutely love having his energy, dedication, and that trademark smile as part of our dream team.
Next time you see Tim out on the course, be sure to ask him about his latest round at Pebble Beach!
