Every golfer knows the feeling of stepping onto the first tee completely cold, only to top your opening drive into the rough. A solid warm-up is the secret to finding your tempo and preventing early-round injuries, which is exactly why we were absolutely thrilled to install the new warm-up nets here at Brighton Golf Course!
These nets are a fantastic addition to our facilities, designed to help you get your body moving and your swing dialed in before you hit the fairways. To ensure they stay in top condition and remain safe for everyone to use season after season, we need your help.
Here is how you can help us look after the practice area:
1. The 12-Shot Rule: Share the Space
On busy mornings, the tee sheet fills up fast and everyone wants a chance to loosen up. We kindly ask that you limit your practice to about a dozen golf shots at a time.
Why it helps: Twelve swings are plenty to stretch your back, find the center of the clubface, and feel your rhythm. Keeping your session brief ensures the group teeing off behind you gets a fair chance to warm up, too.
2. Irons Only: Save the Big Swings for the Fairway
When you are in the nets, please leave your driver, fairway woods, and hybrids in the bag and hit irons or wedges only.
Why it helps: Modern woods and drivers generate massive ball speeds and spin rates that the netting simply isn't designed to take repeatedly. Blasting drivers into the mesh causes the material to fray and tear much faster, creating holes that become a major safety hazard. Dialing in your short irons is the best way to groove your swing path anyway!
Course Pride is a Team Effort
Taking a little extra care of the practice area keeps it safe, functional, and enjoyable for all players. If you notice any damage to the nets, please let the pro shop know so we can sort it out quickly.
Thank you in advance for your support, your courtesy to fellow members, and for helping us look after our facilities. We will see you on the first tee!
