GOLF PARTICIPATION IN AUSTRALIA REACHES NEW HEIGHTS! cover

Golf in Australia is experiencing extraordinary growth, with more people enjoying the sport than ever before! In 2023-24, an impressive 3.8 million adult Australians played golf across courses, driving ranges, simulators, and mini-golf venues—marking a 9% year-on-year increase. This cements golf as one of the country’s favourite and most accessible activities, with nearly 1 in 5 adults hitting a golf ball last year.

Golf club memberships are also thriving, rising by 5.6% to reach 459,143 members—a remarkable 19% growth over the past five years. Juniors are leading the charge, with junior membership growing by 33.4%, and female participation continues to climb, supported by initiatives like the Junior Girls Scholarship program, which saw 22.7% growth.

There has been significant growth in off-course facilities like driving ranges and indoor simulators. Programs such as MyGolf for juniors and Get Into Golf for adults have also seen an increase in participation, particularly among women.

As the sport expands, it’s supported by the dedication of clubs, facilities, and countless volunteers who make this growth possible. With more ways to play and enjoy the game, there’s never been a better time to be part of the Australian golf community!
